30 Days of Biking Challenge and Local Bike Ride

The weather is improving after a long very rainy and windy couple of months. I am again participating in the Joyful Riders Worldwide 30 days of biking challenge on Facebook.

This Saturday the Fairhaven Livable Streets Committee is having it’s monthly “Bike and Brew” ride. A very nice day is forecast and we expect lots of new riders. Ride starts at the Fairhaven Rec Center next to Stop and Shop at 1 PM. Bike and Brew could be coffee, or could be a little stronger brew. This week it’s stronger brew.

March Bike And Brew Rescue Mission

Saturday March 2

10 AM- Noon

Ft. Phoenix State Beach Reservation

Event by Fairhaven Livable Streets Committee and Miles Grant

Duration: 2 hr

Public  · Anyone on or off Facebook

We haven’t strayed far from the center of town in our first few Bike & Brews, but in March, we’ll take a leisurely ride north to visit one of Fairhaven’s best cafes – and see an example of how easy it can be to make a busy intersection safer.

After meeting at our usual spot near the Fort Phoenix tennis courts, then head to Rescue Cafe, home to amazing coffee, delicious pastry, and more pet-themed knick-knacks for sale than you can wag a tail at. On the ride home, we’ll stop at Benoit Square to see how the town has made small changes aimed at reducing crashes.

Please invite family, friends & fellow bike fans! Bike & Brew is for all ages & abilities and we want our whole community to feel welcomed & safe on our rides. Let us know if you have any questions or if you have any ideas for how we can make Bike & Brew even better!

Usual reminders: Helmets required for younger folks & you’re responsible for securing your own bike.

February Bike And Brew:Bridge to the Future

Saturday, February 3, 2024. 1-3 PM

Fort Phoenix.

As the design process begins for replacing the Fairhaven-New Bedford Bridge, what kind of a crossing does our community need? How can we meet not only our needs today, but as we consider our health, safety, and climate goals, our needs for the next several decades?

We’ve been so thrilled at the strong turnout & growing community at our Bike & Brew rides! For our February ride, we’ll meet at Fort Phoenix, bike across the existing bridge, make a brief stop so folks can check out the new Abolition Row Park, before heading into Play Arcade for bites, brews, and bridge talk.

Dress appropriately for the weather, but we’ve planned a shorter ride so folks won’t be out too long in the cold. We’ll head back to Fort Phoenix around 2:30pm, but folks are welcome to break off from the pack & head home as is convenient.

Please invite family, friends & fellow bike fans! Bike & Brew is for all ages & abilities and we want our whole community to feel welcomed & safe on our rides. Let us know if you have any questions or if you have any ideas for how we can make Bike & Brew even better!
