2018 Buzzards Bay Watershead Bike Ride from John Sullivan on Vimeo.
It’s been two months since I have done a ride of any significant distance. Tonight that will change. I’ll begin at the Fort Hill Parking lot in East Providence at 4:30 PM. Ride to Warren and meet up with the others. That will allow me and anyone else interested on an early start, to end the ride without the 10 mile bike to Warren at 10 PM.
Bike Ride – one of our favorites!
Harvest Moon Ride. There will be a Sunset/Moonlight ride on the East Bay Bike Path on Friday 9/28/18.Date: Friday 9/28/18. — Location: EBBP off Rt 103 in Warren R.I. near Del’s Lemonade.
Arrive: 5:45PM — Departure: 6:00PM promptly — Sunset is at 6:31PM and Moonrise is at 8:49PM
Distance is of the ride will be flexible and rain cancels the ride.
We will ride to Bristol to enjoy the sunset in Colt’s State Park. We will then return to the parking lot. That’s around 8-10 miles. Those who wish to will continue toward Providence till we decide to turn around. Turn around point will probably be India Point Park unless we decide to turn around sooner (or later). That’s around 30 or 32 miles round trip. Other routes are also possible. (Riders can decide on their own distance)Bikes should have adequate lighting. If you have a second headlight as a backup that might come in handy if the first one goes out. Bring water, snacks, cameras and anything else you might want or need. Helmets are highly recommended. Take note that it is cooler after sunset and dress accordingly.

Number 3 son Brandon got into bike racing when he moved to Austin in 2014. He has become very good at it and is captain of his team, Tilt Racing. One of the sponsors is Mellow Johnny’s, which is affiliated (or was), with Lance Armstrong. One of his better stories is the team was about to go on a Friday recovery ride the day after a race when Lance approached them.
“What are you guys up to?” he asked.
“A 30 mile recovery ride.” said one of the gang.
“Mind if I join you?” Lance responded.
A definite bucket list cross off for any serious biker.
Austin Driveway Series 27 from John Sullivan on Vimeo.
We have made the turn back to New England spending a few days wit #3 son in Austin. Tonight we will ride to the Driveway Series Bike Criterium to watch Brandon and his team race . It’s 45 minutes of all out hammerfest with a few “preems” thrown in just for fun. A “preem” is when the rider tries to win a lap, usually for a menial prize that they all covet. It’s the prestige.
We did go for a casual ride yesterday around Barton Springs and Lady Bird Lake in the city.
