Aeolus Was Playful Today

It was a very busy day for this last day of the 30 days of biking challenge. Dog walking, grass cutting and most importantly, my pick 6 for tomorrows Major league Soccer games It’s been a few years since I chose the Revolution to win a game in one of the “pick the winner” challenges. I usually got more wins by picking them to lose, if you know what I’m say’n.

Aeolus, the god of the wind was having some fun today. I was grateful to the god Jupiter, who convinced me to purchase an e-bike a few years ago. Without his divine intervention, I wouldn’t have completed my 30 days of biking challenge with the Joyful Riders Worldwide.
This was my eighth year in this challenge, and five of the eight, found me riding in the snow the first week of April. Two days of snow rides this year and a few windy days. Wind is an understatement for the final ride of the month to complete the challenge. I do have to admit that on my e-bike, the wind was not and issue. Between the gearing and the assist the drive train gave me, it was easy peasy.

Mustache Ride
New Bike
I kept tossing around buying a new bike. I sold two this past summer, with the intent of maybe, just maybe, buying a new one. After following Ryan Van Duzer on Youtube riding the great divide on a Priority bike, I realized that would be the style for me. My first choice wouldn’t be deliverd till late September. I considered waiting, making my decision solely on the price.
My second choice was $400 more and naturally, a much better bike. More than I needed but not more than I wanted, if you get my drift. The clincher was four no interest payments. My Continuum Onyx will arrive around May 28th. Oh boy, oh boy.
My first choice was The Brilliant L Train, named after the NYC subway train.
The bike I purchased is the Continuum Onyx
Oh Oh. A Kerfuffle.
Those who have been reading my posts know that my interests are biking and soccer. My favorite bike group is the New Bedford, MA. Starchasers. Youse also know that the only sport that interests me is soccer. Tomorrow I have a conundrum to work out.
The Starchasers have a unique event tomorrow night. Operation Follicular Commutation. However….It’s also opening day for Major League Soccer. One of my boys lives in Atlanta and is a fan of United. Another lives in Austin and is now a fan of his hometown team, Austin FC. I have been to many World Cup games both here and abroad. The atmosphere in Mercedes Benz stadium matches that intensity and fan participation. It’s loud and you can feel the stadium bouncing. Austin is going to produce the same with their fans. It’s Austin’s first team to call their own, and everyone is on board. Most of the bars in town will have watch parties rivaling any NFL or College championship game.

Besides visiting the families, I am prone to booking a flight to attend a game. I am also a fan, and season ticket holder of the Revolution.
The kerfuffle you may ask? (Or not). The bike ride is 7:30-10 PM tomorrow. Austin plays at 6 PM and the Revs at 8:30. This is going to be a last minute decision. As I write this I’m leaning to staying home. This morning I was sure to be riding. By mid afternoon…. soccer. An hour ago….riding. Oh the humanity.
