First thing in the AM I got a message that a couple of friends were doing a ride. Naturally, being retired with nothing holding me back, I joined them. Just so happened, I brought my go pro.
Full Moon Bike Ride

Spring Has arrived!!!
It’s time for another Sunset/Moonlight ride.
The Details:
Date: Saturday 3/27/21.
Location: EBBP off Rt 103 near Del’s Lemonade.
Set you GPS to 65 Child St. Warren R.I.
Time:
Arrive: 6:15PM
Departure: 6:30PM promptly
Sunset: 7:05PM
Moonrise: 5:50PM
Name: Full Worm Moon
Distance is flexible.
Rain, snow, strong winds etc. cancels the ride.
We will ride to Colt’s State Park in Bristol to watch the sunset. We will then return to the Warren parking lot (approx 10 miles round trip). Depending on the weather we might ride toward Providence till we decide to turn around.
Turn around point could be India Point Park unless we decide to turn around sooner.
That’s around another 20+ miles round trip.
Bikes should have adequate lighting.
Bring water, snacks, cameras and anything else you might want or need.
Dress warmly. You can always take off a layer if you get too warm.
Please take note: As organized rides are not happening at this time, this should be considered a casual, unorganized (disorganized???) ride. Appropriate social distancing, wearing of masks when that’s not possible etc. should be observed. If we’re going to do this it should be done as safely as possible.
Hope to see you there.
Happy Trails!
Ten Mile River Greenway
A friend told me about the Greenway yesterday. All the years riding in Rhode Island, I though I knew all the bike trails. Au contraire mon ami.
This greenway is a paved three mile path from Rumford, to Pawtucket, R.I. and it’s stunning.
Riding With A Prince On The East Bay Bike Path
Our old pal Steve Prince called this ride. Four of us showed on a day with mild temperatures, sunshine and just a wisp of a wind.
Cafe Ride on the East Bay Bike Path.
When: Saturday March, 20
Time: 9:45 for a 10:00 AM wheels up
Where: Meet at EBBP parking lot behind University Orthopedic (1 Kettle Point Ave. Providence
The new meeting place, eliminates that last big climb to the parking lot across from the golf course. Consider the location a reprise for those out of condition riders.
The ride will be around 20 miles at a casual pace. 10 MPH more of less. We will detour off the path into Colt State Park, which is our turn around point. A stop at Borealis Coffee Co. close to the end of the ride for those who want to linger a while. It’s roughly a half mile from the end.
Because it’s a straight shot bike path, those who want to ride faster are welcome to do so.
Multitasking.
Last Lunch with Hiram. He’s moving.
Lincoln to Woonsocket, R.I.
Falmouth To Wood’s Hole MA.
The Shining Sea Bikeway a 10 mile rail to trail conversion on scenic Cape Cod. Because of the mild weather, I expected more traffic of bike and walkers that I encountered. I do have to say however, that every time I was about to cross paths with someone, we would both don our masks. It’s so nice to live in an area where everyone respects the science, and to know that the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming very bright. We are going to be over this pandemic soon, as long as we keep doing the right things.
Austin Driveway Series Bike Racing+
Brandon, #3 son is captain of Tilt racing in Austin, TX. When I plan a visit, I always make it a point to go during the Driveway Series racing season. Often, I meet up with some of the pro racers at Mello Johnny’s bike and coffee shop downtown. After a cup and a chat, we ride to the race. It’s always a hoot to see how these guys and gals transform from fun happy go lucky bike riders to cutthroat, intense racing machines. Then on the ride back, stop at a local convenience store, buy a lot of beer and and become happy go lucky again.
