Grab Life By The Handlebars

I do a lot of really unique and cool bike,  but there are three that stand out this year.
The NYC Five Boroughs Bike Tour. 32,000 of us bike the 5 boroughs of NYC crossing 5 bridges.

The Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany.  Just two of us on a week long bike tour.

The Midnight Marathon Bike tour. Riding the Boston Marathon Route at Midnight.

On the first Sunday in May, 32,000 cyclists of all skill levels come from around the world to roll through every borough of New York City on streets totally free of cars. For one day, the roads are yours, the bridges are yours, the City is yours—there’s no better way to experience the Big Apple. Produced in conjunction with the City of New York, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour Presented by REI is the largest charitable bike ride in the U.S., with proceeds funding our free bike education programs. Last year alone, we taught bike skills to more than 17,000 kids and adults. When you ride with Bike New York, you’re helping us in our mission to empower more New Yorkers to grab life by the handlebars.

Two of us have plans to ride the Erie Canal in July.  We may do end to end Buffalo to Albany, but there is also the possibility of Buffalo to Utica. These are the only two options because of the Amtrak baggage limitations. Click Here for links to all our tours over the years.

Mike Riscica is the rider who ignited my bike touring fire in 2005. He has biked cross country twice.  Once Solo and the second time with two friends, which he has not yet transferred  into his new site.

The first ride this year is the Midnight Marathon bike ride.

How many opportunities do you get to go on a midnight bike ride with a lot of people.
