Two groups are organizing events in Providence R.I. Friday.
Dash Bike Shop 228 Broadway, Providence, Rhode Island 02903, is hosting a zombie bike ride and will meet up with Providence Bike Jam riders at Burnside Park.

Join us on Friday 10/25 for a Halloween party and group ride. 4:30-10:30 PM
Come in costume, or stop by early to have Issac give you a zombie face-paint makeover. Have some treats and non-alcoholic cider at the shop, take some snapshots in our Halloween photo booth, and we’ll roll out from Broadway around 6:30pm to join the Pvd Bike Jam crew in Burnside Park, downtown.
The Zombie Bike Party rolls out from Burnside Park at 7pm. We’ll cruise around town, stopping at the Gano Street park and the new pedestrian bridge, before ending the ride at Trinity Brewhouse to share some grog with all our best ghouls.
Crazy looking bikes, costumes, music, dance, food and more presented themselves to the Hallowheels Neon Blood bike ride with the New Bedford Star Chasers. Sixteen riders dressed the part for this Halloween themed bike ride. Later we all gathered with the artists of Gallery X for food, drink, music and socializing.
Last night, around 1:30 AM I was jarred awake by the wind. I got up, hit the light switch and nothing happened. I could hear the howling and that noise fully leafed trees make when they are under stress from heavy wind. I must have been a sight, standing in front of my living room bay window, under an almost full moon, when the utility truck drove by. Two hours later, we got our power back.
The news outlets were reporting on the wind velocity in the surrounding towns. My town, Fairhaven, MA. got the blue ribbon with gust of 89 MPH. The wind did clear the trees of dead branches of all sizes by dumping them in my back yard. I have no trees in the front yard but the wind out of the west cleared my neighbor’s yards to the east of me, and blew all their leaves into my yard. I’m thinking two days to clear everything. The wind is projected to continue into Saturday and diminish by the afternoon. And that my friends brings me to the point of this post. Taking the long way home, as us bike riders tend to prefer, to get to the point.
I have been traveling, seems like forever. Colorado, Portugal, Atlanta and I did have one more trip planned for Thursday, flying to Florida, but that got canceled. So without further procrastination, I’m finally back on the bike. Probably tomorrow. Next Saturday October 19, should be a hoot with the first of three Halloween themed rides. (I’ll post about them Monday.) The fun begins with a full moon ride, but I have two to from which to choose. Both in Rhode Island and I’m strongly leaning to Newport, just for a change from the usual full moon ride with The Fall River Bike gang, who normally ride on the Friday closest to the Full Moon. A three day nor’easter kind of put the kibosh on that, forcing a date change.

Moonlight Bike Ride –
The full moon actually is on Sunday the 13th. Sunset is at 6:07PM. Moonrise will be 20 minutes later at 6:27PM.

Rain cancels the ride. We will ride toward Providence till we decide to turn around. Turn around point will probably be India Point Park unless we decide to turn around sooner (or later). That’s around 22 or 23 miles round trip.
Bikes should have adequate lighting. If you have a second headlight as a backup that might come in handy if the first one goes out. Bring water, snacks, cameras and anything else you might want or need. Helmets if you want. but it’s a bike path fercryinoutloud. Take note that it is cooler after sunset and dress accordingly.

RIDE NEWPORT’S ICONIC OCEAN LOOP AT ITS MOST GLISTENING
We’ll ride 14 miles on Newport’s scenic roads and coastline by the light of the moon – from downtown Newport to Fort Adams, around the beautiful Ocean Loop and along the mansions of Bellevue Avenue before returning to Parlor Bar & Kitchen for refreshments and camaraderie hosted by our friends at AARP-Rhode Island.
This is a leisurely ride but you must be comfortable riding 14 miles on a road shared with other vehicles. Please bring a bicycle, helmet, head light and water bottle. Yes, all are required! As is advance registration – so head straight to the signup form here.
Bike Ride this coming Friday!!! There will be a Sunset/Moonlight ride on the East Bay Bike Path on Friday 10/11/19.

Sunday morning, the couple traveling with us asked for a ride to a church. While they were doing whatever people do in churches, I decided to do something constructive by walking around the village and take some photos.
The place was a fishing town and the harbor was cooler than turning over a pillow at night. I got to experience life at it’s best. The other couple? They chanted some, and gave away their money. I wanted to suggest that they were adults, and too old to be believing in that stuff, but I fear their brainwashing is just to embedded.
