#3 Son Has The Baton

Pace Oddity

The Daily Post Asks. If you could slow down an action that usually zooms by, or speed up an event that normally drags on, which would you choose, and why?”

When you wait for hours for the race to come to you and it’s gone by in a matter of seconds, you often wish you could hit a button and slow them down just till they pass you. Then let go of the button and they resume at speed.

Grab Life By The Handlebars

I do a lot of really unique and cool bike,  but there are three that stand out this year.
The NYC Five Boroughs Bike Tour. 32,000 of us bike the 5 boroughs of NYC crossing 5 bridges.

The Erie Canal from Buffalo to Albany.  Just two of us on a week long bike tour.

The Midnight Marathon Bike tour. Riding the Boston Marathon Route at Midnight. Continue reading “Grab Life By The Handlebars”

Making Lemonade

Toot Your Horn Today’s Daily Post Assignment

Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself.

There was so much failed video during today’s ride I almost scraped the whole daily post.  However….. Howwww Ever….. I’m pretty good at winging it when things fail and I decided to make lemonade.   Hope you like it.  You can get an idea of the cold when I walk into the Destination Soup restaurant and the lens fogs up.

Monday Morning Bike Ride

Drawing a Blank

When was the last time your walked away from a discussion, only to think of The Perfect Comeback hours later? Recreate the scene for us, and use your winning line.

I didn’t have a plan for today’s ride. That’s why the beginning is random things about the city.  I was drawing a blank and it became clear to let the video tell the story with the music.

Riding With The Fall River Bike Group On The Roads Less Traveled

The Road Less Traveled

The Daily Post asked us to write about the road less traveled.  A suggestion was made on the topic but today’s bike ride on the quiet roads on the SouthCoast of Massachusetts made the daily post very apropos.

The Fall River Bike Committee put the word out for a bike ride in my back yard. I offered to lead the ride, they accepted, and we rode. The group set the pace to accommodate some new riders who by the way did wonderful and liked it.

One Hundred Million Dollars

The day screamed for a long bike ride and I decided to cross the bridge into the city of New Bedford.  I ran into a fellow bike rider and invited him to join our ride on Sunday.  When I told him it would be around 30 miles he reneged saying his bike was only good for 20 miles or less. I mentioned that we stopped at a cafe half way through the ride, so it’s actually two 15 mile rides, which is well within his 20 mile limit.  He didn’t bite.  Continue reading “One Hundred Million Dollars”

I’m Calling the EPA

Today’s daily post suggestion.

Karma Chameleon Reincarnation: do you believe in it?

Do you believe in heaven and hell?  Gods? Aliens? Ghost? How about crop circles? Reincarnation is in the same category as all those other things.  I know none of those exist, so my answer is no, I don’t believe in reincarnation or any of those other things.  But they can be fun pranks to play on people.

Coffee, Bagel and the paper.

It was such a nice morning,29 and sunny, that I had my coffee and a bagel on the outside deck of Flower Girls Baking Company after my daily gym session.  Today is also a nice day to go for a long enough ride to put on my Garmin. Stay tuned.  Continue reading “I’m Calling the EPA”

Time Travel

Mad Libs

Turn to your co-workers, kids, Facebook friends, family — anyone who’s accessible — and ask them to suggest an article, an adjective, and a noun. There’s your post title! Now write.

My daily bike ride this time of year is the same as the day before.  A one mile ride to the gym, then to the market for tonight’s meal ingredients, then to a coffee shop to read the NY Times over a good cup of Joe .   There is not much different to say or show that I haven’t posted at least a couple of times.  However, I have two dogs.

Watch Out For Black Ice

Evasive Action  Today’s Daily Post assignment is “What’s the most significant secret you’ve ever kept? Did the truth ever come out?”

When a secret is revealed to one person, it’s inevitable that within a very short time, there are dozens of people sworn to secrecy.

Clear Bike Path

The early mornings are for the older gentlemen walking on the bike path. Today while riding to the gym I ran into three who were walking on the left side of the photo above. It’s the horse path and also where everyone takes their dogs to shit.  The women pick it up and the men usually don’t. Continue reading “Watch Out For Black Ice”
