Ride Under the Blue Moon

blue-moon-werewolves.jpg

Bike Ride Tonight. Ride under the Blue Moon. 100% bike path.

Date: Saturday 3/31/18. Location: EBBP off Rt 103 near Del’s Lemonade. Time: Arrive: 5:45PM
Departure: 6:00PM promptly / Sunset: 7:09PM / Moonrise: 7:26PM / Distance is flexible.

Rain, snow or extreme weather cancels the ride.

We will ride toward Providence till we decide to turn around. Turn around point will probably be India Point Park unless we decide to turn around sooner (or later). That’s around 22 or 23 miles round trip.

Bikes should have adequate lighting. If you have a second headlight as a backup that might come in handy if the first one goes out. Bring water, snacks, cameras and anything else you might want or need. Helmets are highly recommended, but not required.

Take note that it is cooler after sunset and dress accordingly.

Time To Ride Full Time

Easter Lily 1

Easter.  The first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox.  For some it’s a religious thing.  For people like me who follow the true meaning,  it’s the celebration of new and abundant life, celebrated by the Lilly (new) and the rabbit (abundant).  It’s also the beginning of the cycling season.  Here we go.

Saturday:

Bike Ride!!

There will be a Evening/Moonlight ride on the East Bay Bike Path on Saturday 3/31/18.
I know that we missed the January Blue Moon, but this is our second chance to ride on an event that happens only “once in a Blue Moon”. Join the fun in this Spring Moonlight Ride.

April 4:  Wednesday Night Casual Rides

The rides will coincide with the 30 days of biking pledge. Our first ride will be on April 4th.  This year there will be two starting points.  Staples in Fairhaven, for those who want a 20 mile loop, and the Y in New Bedford for a shorter 10 mile casual ride.  New riders are always welcome and we ride at around a 10 mph pace.

Loan Me A Dime

The third Nor’easter dumped 11″ of heavy wet snow keeping me riding indoor at the fitness center. My playlist worked out perfectly and I finished my hour ride listening to Boz Scaggs.  Sit back, relax, go full screen with headphones.  Turn it up and if your of the sort, smoke a little weed.  It will bring you back to those carefree days in 1968.

Elevated bike way on East Beach

As in the past, after crossing over the Fairhaven bridge on the south sidewalk, we will meet any riders at the Y and continue a short distance on Orchard St. in New Bedford before merging onto the elevated bike way at West Beach.  The ride will continue on the bike path into Fort Rodman, and continue to the elevated bike way on the east side of the peninsula.  Following a short detour to the middle of the harbor on the paved hurricane barrier, the ride will continue back to the Y along South Front St.

Some will hang out at the Moby Dick Brewing for food and drink. Others will continue back to Staples.  Your choice.

30 Days of Biking

I committed today to do the 30 days of biking challenge. I was number 330 and lo and behold, ZEPHRYUS, the god of the gentle west wind and the herald of spring, gave me a cloudy but warm day for a bike ride. I decided to ride the “Raza” electric assist bike for this ride around the waterfronts of Fairhaven and New Bedford, MA.
