Full Moon Bike Ride in Rhode Island

Hi folks,

Well will have our Full Harvest Super Moon (A.K.A. Corn Moon) on Friday.  As Friday and  Saturday are supposed to be rainy we will have our Sunset/Moonlight ride on the East Bay Bike Path on Sunday 10/1/23.    Moonrise is at 7:40PM so we will get to see the moon during most of the ride.

The Details:

Date: Sunday 10/2/23.

Location:  EBBP off Rt 103 near Del’s Lemonade.

Set you GPS to 65 Child St. Warren R.I.

Time:

Arrive: 5:30PM

Departure: 5:45PM promptly

Sunset: 6:27PM

Moonrise:  7:40PM

Distance is flexible.

Rain or high winds cancels the ride.

We will ride to Bristol to enjoy the sunset at Colt’s State Park.  We will then return to the parking lot.  That’s around 10 miles.  Those who wish to will continue toward Providence till we decide to turn around.

Turn around point could be as far as India Point Park unless we decide to turn around sooner (or later).

That’s around 30 or 32 miles round trip.

Other routes are also possible.

Bikes should have adequate lighting.

If you have a second headlight as a backup it might come in handy if the first one goes out.

Bring water, snacks, cameras and anything else you might want or need.

Come on down. I hope to see you there!

Twenty Five Miles With Friends

I was asked to lead a group of out of town riders on the Tour de Creme route. Six of us took our time stopping often for photo ops and “just because” things. A seventh late arriving rider tried to chase us down without realizing that I started by deviating from the original route, doing the last loop first. He did finally cross paths with us, but decided not to re ride the fifteen miles he just finished.

I was also invited to join and document a wonderful Full Blue Moon ride in beautiful Newport, R.I. on Wednesday. However, I chose to go to the New England Revolution game at Gillette Stadium to witness the home team beat the NY Redbulls. It was a vexing conundrum but I chose the correct event for me. I’m more of a footie fan than biking.
