Let the Easter Season Begin

Spring equinox

The Equinox, (equal night), is the beginning of the Easter season. The first Sunday following the first full moon after the equinox is Easter. The celebration of new and abundant life. The lily represents the new life and the rabbit, abundant life.

For some cultures, the start of spring is considered a time of rebirth and renewal. And some religious holidays are timed to be celebrated after the spring equinox, including Easter and Passover

Bike Tour of Cape Cod and The Islands

IMG_20150528_150913604

It’s a done deal.  I’ll be touring locally this summer by riding Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and and outside chance of adding Nantucket.(probably a day trip).  It’s still in the planning stage and I’m thinking this will be a six day tour.

Tilt Racing Team

Brandon is a member of the newest racing team in Austin. Tilt Racing.  He has come a long way from that youngster who had a difficult time riding the NYC Five Boroughs Tour in 2008.

October in Austin is a great time and with free room and board, it’s also a wonderful vacation spot.

Weekend InWoodstock, VT.

IMG_0004

The family gathered in Vermont  to celebrate an 80th birthday for one of ours. I brought my bike along naturally and did a short ride around the area. It’s not my estate but the owner is part of the family and it’s my first time here.  It’s set on top of a hill in beautiful Woodstock, Vt. Continue reading “Weekend InWoodstock, VT.”

Sister Sparrow Sings The Blues

Another video from last night’s crazy concert at the Narrows in Fall River, MA

Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds

I was testifying for a week about an upcoming show at the Narrows Performing Arts center in Fall River, MA.  Sister Sparrow, a Brooklyn band brought down the house. The video is long, but worth every note.  If not, it’s also good if you simply skip around. I have been to lots of shows and Sister Sparrow is in the top five without a doubt.

Today’s assignment is Water. Take a photo of water and write about it.
What better way to do so than riding my bike along the East Bay in Providence, RI.

You can listen while your reading. It’s soothing.

Getting Fit

Harmony I’m a day late for the photography 101 posting so I decided to create Home and Harmony.  The crocus are in full bloom making a nice contrast to my house.

Crokies at my house
Even the crokies came out it was so nice.

Let me clear the air about winter riding.  When it was cold and there was snow and ice, I was determined to get out and ride. I bought studded tires, rode on them three times and praised their suitability for winter conditions.  I lied.  I don’t like winter riding on ice and snow.  I don’t dislike it either.  It’s just something I do.  After riding a few days in relatively nice weather I can honestly say that winter biking kind of sucks.   But I still do it.  Continue reading “Getting Fit”

My New Bike Surprised Me

The so’wester gale was a blow’n.  The original plan, hatched yesterday, was to get the road bike ready and begin training for bike events happening soon. I got stuck watching the Davis Cup and before I knew it. It was noontime.  I decided that today was not going to be the day for a long ride with sustained winds of 20-25 knots, so I settled on the new Scott bike, I got on my trip to Austin last year, for the short ride to the bank.
